There was no prospect of Olympic glory at the end of it all because these were not based on Olympic disciplines. So I decided, once I’d left school, to try Olympic trap, double trap and skeet. I really took to the double trap. It’s particularly difficult at first, and you miss an awful lot, which puts many people off. But once I started to get the hang of it, I had this incredible feeling. It appealed to the perfectionist in me.
