Re: | Belgian Shepherd Puppy Wanted | Ad: | Norris, thanks for wrtinig. Were you able to attend the meeting that was held in the chapel about this? I thought that the board and Vince were very transparent. Beth K., in particular, spent quite a bit of time going over the events that lead up to Pastor Finke's request for a release. Aside from that meeting, in the days immediately following the news, I personally contacted a couple of board members, and also talked directly with Pastor Finke. From those conversations it became clear to me that there was no blame to be placed, at least by me. I think I understand the board's actions and difficulty, and I also think I understand Pastor Finke's perspective and his decision to separate from Gloria Dei. I feel it's important to emphasize this point. There was and is no indication from the board, Vince, or Pastor Finke that there was any sexual component at all in this matter, or for that matter any other kind of misconduct by any of the parties involved. None whatsoever. Pastor Finke's request was rather sudden, and I think caught everybody off guard. Based on what I know, though, I think that was a function of his feelings and perceived leading of the Spirit, and not a function of secrecy on his part or the board's part. In the final analysis, I believe the board acted properly and did the best with the situation as it presented itself. I also believe that Pastor Finke was doing what he was convinced was right and God-directed. As we discussed in Bible class this morning, there will always be situations and events that we just don't fully understand this side of Heaven. Perhaps Pastor Finke's departure will be one of those .God bless you! |
