It’s good exercise and it builds bonds between players. And it’s not just a male thing: as I have learned to my cost, my wife is at least as competitive as I am. But, for whatever reason, the male ego is often attached to the male hand-eye co-ordination. Which is fine, of course. People will always establish pecking orders, whether it’s over sport or work or Twitter followers or their ability at Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
