Coughlin has almost always played his starters in the preseason finale with the Giants. In fact, since Manning became the Giantsâ?? starter late in the 2004 season, he has started the fourth preseason game five of eight times. He sat only in 2005 when he was nursing a sprained elbow, in 2008 when Coughlin sat some (but not all) of his starters and again in 2011, the only time when Coughlin kept all his regulars on the bench.
