Re: | Mastiff Breeder Wanted | Ad: | I own an English and I did show him as a puppy. First you need to have papers shoniwg he is a purebred, you obtain these when you buy your dog from a breeder. Some breeders will sell purebreds who are not show material at a cheaper cost and you DO NOT get their registration papers, so you can't show. The black mask on an English Mastiff is very important, the blacker the better and no cheating by using colorants to try and darken you dogs mask. your dog how to "stand" in the ring is also important. They have to have the correct stance, my dog developed a lazy back left paw that would never stay where I put it, this didn't make him good show quality. It takes lots of hours of training both YOU and your dog to enter a quality dog show.Definately go to a dog show and ask alot of questions. People do not mind helping promote the breed.References : |
