The shutdown will cost tax payers about 150 million dollars a day. There are lots of uneducated and uninformed people who think this is a game because there won't be an obvious cost to them for a while. The scary thing is that republicans have been talking about shutting down the government for at least a year and they seem to be happy about it. Many economists say that if they cause a default in a couple of weeks, the damage to the economy could be worse than the Bush economic meltdown in 2008. Not very many republican have any understanding of the economy.
