Hill is good on the science. I attended her classes when pregnant with my first, not least because she held them in her house at the bottom of my road and I met local mums. But by her own admission, physiotherapist Christine’s approach to birth is a medical one. She is funny and frank and we remain friends to this day, but I suspect she still finds my whole ‘natural birth’ outlook a rather novel idea that is out of reach for most women. On that we agree – hospitals just aren’t set up to optimise the chances.
