Cutting grass, you need to sharpen or hone the blade every five minutes or so, but it takes just 20 seconds and you carry the whetstone with you. This needs to be wet when you use it, so the carrying belt can hold water. You will also need to “peen” the blade, too, if you are cutting grass, perhaps every three days or so. This is basically tapping it with a hammer to flatten out the bull-nosed edge that develops on the blade after lots of sharpening and use. This is all far easier than it sounds.
