The inner leaf had shattered all over and most of it had fallen, leaving a large oval hole in the glass with the remainder round the edges still in place but showering down from time to time. The outer upper leaf was still fully intact. The damage to the wooden furniture below was such that it resembled having being attacked with a small axe, and we can only feel relief that we were out when it happened, avoiding possible serious injury.
