The Knicks new general manager and team president Steve Mills announced on Monday the team would be picking up the option on the coachâ??s contract for the 2014-15 season, rewarding Woodson for leading the team to its first playoff series win in 13 years. Last season, Woodson guided the Knicks to their finest season in over a decade, going 54-28 and winning the Atlantic Division title since 1993-94. It was his first full season as head man for the Knicks after being named interim head coach on March 14, 2012 following Mike Dâ??Antoniâ??s departure. For his work last season, Woodson placed third in media balloting for the 2012-13 NBA Coach of the Year award. He was also named the NBA's Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for April. Woodson's .679 winning percentage the second-best in franchise history.
