If they get overweight, french bulldogs will have respitory problems and may be gassy and wheezy. It is important that when contacting a French Bulldog breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.
Please don't purchase your French Bulldog from a petstore which commonly are known to support French Bulldog puppy mills. Doing so only promotes inproper breeding ethics and promotes current French Bulldog health issues. The AKC, UKC, FCI, CKC, SKC, WWKC, FIC registries recognize the French Bulldog breed standard.

Character:
The French Bulldog has the appearance of an active, intelligent, muscular dog of heavy bone, smooth coat, compactly built, and of medium or small structure. Expression alert, curious, and interested.
Temperment:
Well behaved, adaptable, and comfortable companions with an affectionate nature and even disposition; generally active, alert, and playful, but not unduly boisterous.
Coat:
Coat is moderately fine, brilliant, short and smooth. Skin is soft and loose, especially at the head and shoulders, forming wrinkles.
Care
When it is shedding, use a rubber brush weekly to remove dead hairs. A special lotion will occasionally need to be applied to the facial folds to keep them clean.
