The Pug is susceptible to patellar luxation, epilepsy and skin problems. It is important that when contacting a Pug breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Country of Origin: China - Originally from the Orient, they were brought to Holland before the 16th century for the nobility. Recently it is theorized that the breed may actually have originated in the Orient as a longer legged, shorter coated version of the Pekingese. Name may originate as the word

Character: Easy-going and straightforward, Pugs are sociable, intelligent and calm.

Temperment: This dog gets along well with children, other dogs, and any household pets. It may get jealous if its owner ignores it.

Coat: Consists of short hairs. Colors can be black, beige, or silver. Must have a black mask.

Care Loose hairs should be removed periodically with a rubber brush. Special lotion needs to be applied to the facial creases.

Colour: Fawn w/black mask; black

Comments: Love to swim. Their easy going nature and trainability make them good family dogs. Loving, loyal, brave and obedient. Non shedding, non-allergenic. two coat varieties: one is long, wavy and loose, the other is short, thick and curly. .
