Most of the tards that fight for gun control live in heavy populated metros, and do not know what its like in the rest of 75% of the USA that's still wild and very, very, dangerous. I have a beer den about 100 yards from my house. There are coyotes, fisher cats, etc... My wife and I go running every morning around my lake and carry a firearm for protection from wild animals. We go hiking on trails which also is nice to have a firearm. And then there is the joy of target shooting. Its fun, a skill, and a hobby.
