Country of Origin: Bedlington England - the northern mining area; in 1830's were called Rothbury Terrier. Favorite of miners for badgering and ratting. Tinkers and gypsies kept them first in Yorkshire, England. Originally bred to hunt otter and vermin.

Character: This dog is loving, and playful with children, and intelligent. It does not often bark.

Temperment: Males are fierce fighters, if challenged. However this breed gets along well with children. provided its socialized early as with other household pets, there should be no problems.

Coat: Sheep-like short curly hair.

Care Regular grooming with a comb and brush are required, as well as a visit once a year to a professional groomer.

Colour: Sandy, Sandy/Tan, Blue, Blue/tan, liver, liver/tan

Comments: The Airedale's wisdom and humor make them a constant joy to be around with natural guarding ability. This breed is loyal, obedient, loving, courageous, trustworthy, sensible, affectionate, tolerant, eager to please, and above all fun.
