Character:
This breed is friendly, vigilant, and very loyal to its family. It is attentive, intelligent, calm, and seldom barks other then for a good reason.
Temperment:
Bernese Mountain Dogs are great with children and will protect them. Provided proper socialization has taken place, they get along fine other household pets. They will announce unfamiliar visitors with hearty barking and then carefully watch them. They have been known to be dominant toward others of their own breed.
Coat:
Hair is medium-length, slightly curly to straight with a thick undercoat. Color is almost totally black with white and rust markings.
Care
Regular grooming with a comb and brush is required, particularly in areas that are prone to tangles (behind the ears, legs, neck, legs, and hindquarters). Excessive hair around the pads of the feet must be trimmed and also the ears must be kept clean.
