The Bullmastiff is part of the Working (Mastiff) group. The Bullmastiff is a dog with Above Average problem solving abilities. The trainability of the Bullmastiff is Above Average. It was breed to be good for Family Pet, Protection, Watch Dog The Bullmastiff lifestyle is Either indoor or outdoor

The Bullmastiff is susceptible to hip dysplasia, cancer, eyelid problems, and gastric torsion. It is important that when contacting a Bullmastiff breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Please don't purchase your Bullmastiff from a petstore which commonly are known to support Bullmastiff puppy mills. Doing so only promotes inproper breeding ethics and promotes current Bullmastiff health issues. The AKC, FCI, CKC, SKC, WWKC, FIC registries recognize the Bullmastiff breed standard.

Country of Origin: Great Britain; developed by crossing the English Mastiff and Bulldog during the late 1800's, resulting in a more agile, quiet tracker. Originally called the Gamekeeper's dog and used against poachers. .

Character: The Bullmastiff is intelligent, loyal, obedient, and courageous.

Temperment: This dog can be somewhat dominant toward other Bullmastiffs. However, it is very tolerant towards children and can get along with other household pets provided proper socialization has taken place. Unwanted visitors will be driven away.

Coat: Is short-haired. Colors may be tan or reddish-brown, with a darker muzzle and ears. Some white on the chest is permissible.

Care Periodically remove dead hairs with a rubber brush.

Colour: Red, fawn, brindle; often with black mask

Comments: Needs a firm loving owner. Loyal, though somewhat independent, needs a fairly large yard or someplace to get adequate exercise. As a guard dog, its main purpose is to hold a person down, not bite. .
