Country of Origin: Great Britain - Developed during the 1700's on the Shetland Islands to herd and guard stock. Once called Merle Highland Collie, the Black and Tan Kelpie and the Dalmatian.

Character: This dog is loyal, obedient, sharp, and happy.

Temperment: Although watchful around strangers, this dog is extremely sociable with children, other dogs, and household pets.

Coat: Outer layer of the coat is long and wiry. The inner layer is short and soft. Colors are sable (with and without black tips on the hairs), black and tan with white markings, black-white, and blue-black.

Care Regular grooming with a brush and comb is required. The long outer hair can get tangled.

Colour: Black, blue merle or sable, with varying amounts of white and/or tan

Comments: Very loving temperament. Loves receiving affection. Natural protection dogs, good with children and family. Great obedience dogs with a tremendous desire to please. .
